Why was Europe severly hit by 2008, in comparison to USA?
I was reading about the econonomical history of USA and compared it to European gdp per capitas side by side.
I've two questions.
1) It seems like USA wasn't really hit as severly by 2008 economical crisis in comparison to Europe.
If we compare gdp per capita of Italy, UK with USA
Italy (2008) – 40,000 Dollars ~ Italy (2023) – 35,000 Dollars
UK (2008) – 47,000 Dollars ~ UK (2023) – 46,000 Dollars
USA (2008) – 48,000 Dollars ~ USA (2023) – 70,000 Dollars
My question is, why wasn't USA. As severly hit by 2008 economic crisis as Europe?
2) It's a general trend that countries with a large population tend to have lower average wages but it isn't seen in USA. USA has better wages than most developed countries, the same developed countries who are often better than USA in terms of lively indicators like life expectancy.
TLDR – Why wasn't America hit as severly by 2008 economic crisis as Europe and why is USA's wages significant higher than other Western countries.
