Concerning the fight for 15
The low/no skill jobs are all currently paying upwards of 10-11 dollars an hour anyway, at least in the Des Moines metro area. Hardee's in Ankeny is paying 13. McDonald's is paying 11.
I was making 12.50 as a communications Technician for Facebook.
This already happening, independently of legislative mandate. What NEEDS to happen is HIGH skill trade jobs like EMT's, CNA's, construction workers, IT workers, need to realize that they are currently being out competed by no skill work as far as wages go and need to compensate that with accross the board pay raises.
